It's a 2 year deal and Wings have plenty of cap space. If he regresses, he'll be gone in 22 months. No biggie.

That’s it. Yzerman has signed really good deals as far as being short term. 4.2m over 2 seemed a bit much, but it’s only 2 years. If he hits 10 goals twice he’s good to go.

The team has announced that Cossa has inked his three-year entry-level contract.
Stevie is not wasting any time after the Petro-debacle!

Yeah. In pure market efficiency terms it's a slight overpay, but nothing to get annoyed about by any means.

A bit more than i thought he would get but then again Suter was given 3.2mil after one season playing with the Hawks top players and Erne's numbers weren't that far off last season.

You all have become like family. I just wanted to take a second here to thank my amazing wife, Jen, for 22 years together. Each day is a blessing and I’m grateful to share it with all of you

I don’t see any issue with the contract Per se. it does bother me that if we signed Erne at 2.1 AAV. We couldn’t bring back Gelndening at what he got in Dallas? 1.5 per for 2 years? That sorta irks me

I got the impression that Glenny wanted that opportunity to compete. I may be wrong, but wouldn’t blame him

Agree with Jeremy here, he played a lot of losing seasons in Detroit, he's earned his ticket to a team that is playoff bound and can contend for a cup. I would have rather him stayed also, great 4th liner who killed penalties and has consistently good faceoff numbers. Good luck to him, but I hate to see him go.

I have no issue here wit Erne at 2.1. Cap is there, term is short, and there will be a lot of questions in the coming couple seasons who will be on the team long term and who isn't meshing. A lot of 2-3 year contracts are going to make releasing those a lot easier and help build the future.

For sure. I posted about it on one of the draft posts. Yzerman locked up Seider, Raymond and now Cossa right after they were drafted. Waiting to hear on Edvinsson

Still only 2 contracts (Vrana/Rasmussen) on the books after next season. That will change when Seider’s contract is moved over to the NHL column. Still, it’s a clean slate more and more each year. I don’t remember anything like it. So well played by the GM

Ottawa is looking for a top six forward. Their willing to trade Norris or Brandstrom. One of them and a 2nd and a 3rd for Bert?? I would prefer Norris, a MI native,a center and only 22.

Let's all just be glad this wasn't a Ken Holland contract.. otherwise it would have been a 5-year 3.5 million AAV.

Stevie is driving the bus now.. thank Heaven.

Not a bad deal at all. I agree Glenny took a little bit of a pay cut for a chance to compete and pays zero state tax now.

If you want to pretend he is Abby 2.0 then take the buyout caphit plus his and it is a 2 year $4.4m deal!!!

I spent a month in Dallas about 8 years ago for corporate training. My favorite thing were these little guitar stores Stevie Ray Vaughan used to go to. (I think one was called Charley’s). That and “hard 8” bbq. Standing next to a dozen smokers in July wasn’t pleasant, but that food is unreal. You pay by the pound.
